Elk Mountain Homestead

If you are looking for a way to give back and support conservation efforts while enjoying a relaxing stay in Elk Country, the Elk Mountain Homestead might be for you.

This 2-story furnished farmhouse is located in Benezette, Pa., in the heart of the Pennsylvania elk range. The rural property is a feeding and bedding area for elk, so visitors often need not travel far to enjoy viewing these majestic animals. The property includes the Silo Elk Viewing Platform with sweeping views of surrounding fields, woods and wildlife.

The Elk Mountain Homestead is owned by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and managed by the Keystone Elk Country Alliance. The property, formerly known as the Betta Christmas Tree Farm, is available for rent so people can enjoy the wildlife, especially elk and the scenic views of the Allegheny Mountains. Proceeds from the rental property benefit elk and other wildlife in the Pennsylvania Wilds.

The 3-bedroom rental property includes a 20' x 20' living room with fireplace and furniture; a fully equipped kitchen with a stove, refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker; and a dining room table that seats eight. The 3 bedrooms sleep up to 10 people. The shower and restroom are located on the second floor.

The Elk Country Visitor Center is located on property, making this a great getaway for families and friends – not to mention an excellent way to support wildlife conservation efforts in Pennsylvania.
