Education Testimonials

We’re proud of what we do here at the Keystone Elk Country Alliance and the difference we can make in the community. Nothing warms us more than a heartfelt note from a teacher or student conveying what an amazing time they had while visiting the Elk Country Visitor Center or participating in our Distance Learning Program! Read some of our favorites below.

The programs gave great insight on the history of the PA Elk herd and also detailed conservation and habitat information. This was by far one of the most productive and enjoyable Act 80 days that I have been involved in during my 29 years as an educator.

Michael Zinobile

Superintendent, Juniata Valley School District

My students learned so much and really enjoyed getting to learn hands on with the artifacts that were shipped directly to our school prior to our program. I would highly recommend this program and KECA!

This was SO GREAT!!! Thank you so much for sending the supplies out and doing the lesson. We decided to wait to get the stuff out until after your lesson and it was so cute – the kids were so surprised to see our own version of everything you talked about! What a great resource you guys are!

Kindergarten Teacher, Cedar Ridge Elementary, Minnesota

Question: How does one captivate an audience of 80 – eight and nine year olds (and several teachers and staff members) for 45+ minutes?

Answer: They provide an engaging, interactive, informative lesson on a topic of high interest. The traveling trunk of artifacts was a big hit too. Great job!!! Thank you so much for sharing your time, knowledge, and talent with us. Your sponsors would be proud of your work. We loved it!!!

This was our second year visiting the Elk Center and they were able to offer new programs from the previous year. Feedback from the students was very enthusiastic, while many stated, “BEST DAY EVER!”. We are already looking forward to next year’s field trip!!

I just wanted to send you a quick email to say thanks. The 4th graders truly enjoyed learning about the elk and being able to touch and see the items that you sent. Also, the presenter was awesome! She held the attention of almost 80 4th graders, which is not an easy task to do.

4th Grade Teacher, Conneaut Valley Elementary School

Thanks to the awesome educational outreach that the teacher planned for Holiday Park about Elk County, our family took a trip up to the Elk Country Visitor Center!! After visiting Colorado this spring and seeing elk there, it was so surprising to me when Dany came home from school and told me he learned there were Elk in PA through a distance learning program.

We enjoyed visiting the visitor center, and when we were leaving we ran into the conservation education coordinator in the parking lot. He asked us where we were from and we told him Plum. It turned out he was the speaker for the program at our school. Thanks again for setting this up. We just loved our visit up there. It’s gorgeous!
